This is a sweet little book but the information it contains is limited at best.

It gives many “rules” for keeping guineafowl, many of which simply don’t apply to most of us. The section on incubation is woefully inadequate, and much of the book consists of chatty posts lifted from a website, which are heavy on opinion but pretty lightweight if you want real help, or substantial information on these interesting birds.

There’s little in this book which you won’t be able to find in an hour or two of surfing. Save the money to buy more birds, and don’t bother with the book.

This short book may be of limited help to those who know nothing about guinea fowl or poultry. It seems to be from an inexperienced, new to the species viewpoint. The information is presented as facts from which the keeper of guineas should not stray. However, much of the information is questionable and none of it is referenced. It reads like a housewife’s tale of her personal experience starting with guineas complete with pictures of the entire family. It is also not easy to use or reference as the book doesn’t even have an index. I would recommend more authoritative, general guides for raising and keeping birds.

This book is very good to read before you get the guineas, lots to learn…

Although I find this to be a good starter book it is a bit set in the author’s thoughts on how to raise guineas. The girl appears to be learning as she writes. Experience will show many different and at times better ways to raise these wonderful birds. Consider that this is only one person’s opinions.

Jeannette does a charming job of explaining just how she raises Guineas, and inserts lots of funny stories along the way.
